Group Supervision

Community supports transformation.

Still Harbor’s Group Supervision is an 11-month, cohort learning experience for practicing spiritual directors as well as other spiritual caregivers, spiritual companions, and spiritually-guided facilitators. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their spiritual care practices through reflection papers, readings, and virtual group discussions, with a particular focus this year on exploring abolition as a spiritual practice.

Still Harbor provides educational accompaniment and training to spiritual caregivers committed to collective liberation. Group Supervision invites spiritual directors and caregivers to grow in community and reflect on how their work embodies the values they are naming for their practice.

This virtual program will run from October 2023-August 2024. The application has closed, but please stay tuned for future training opportunities!

Why is Group Supervision Important?

Still Harbor’s Group Supervision is an invitation and opportunity for spiritual caregivers to:

  • Be accountable practitioners by getting feedback from a spiritual supervisor and their peers.

  • Invest in continued community-based learning.

  • Meet other spiritual caregivers who are committed to collective liberation.

Content Focus

This year’s cohort will have a unique focus on abolition as a spiritual practice. Two abolitionist spiritual directors will facilitate the group and invite participants to reflect on how to be an abolitionist spiritual caregiver.

Cohort Options

Still Harbor offers two options for Group Supervision.

Option 1: BIPOC Affinity Cohort. BIPOC spiritual caregivers can opt into this cohort. The BIPOC cohort will meet on the third Wednesday of every month from 7:30 - 9:30 pm ET, starting October 18, 2023.

Option 2: Cross-Identity Affinity Cohort. Any spiritual director or caregiver can join this cohort. The cross-identity cohort will meet the first Wednesday of every month from 7:30 - 9:30 pm ET, starting October 4, 2023.

Meet the Facilitators

Both Group Supervision cohorts will be facilitated by Marchaé Grair, Still Harbor’s Director of Programs, and Rev. Dr. Althea Smith, Still Harbor’s Co-Chair of the Board. Read more about Rev. Dr. Althea and Marchaé here
