Board Members
Rev. Dr. Althea Smith, founder of Still Harbor, is an ordained UU minister with a wealth of skills and experience, including a PhD in Clinical/Community Psychology and licensure as a Registered Nurse. She is a seasoned activist and community leader. Rev. Althea is also a wonderful listener and a keen observer who will challenge us to do our work of discernment. Her open heart informs her ministry as she works to abolish injustice and inequities in our community, country, and the world.

Christina Rivera, Treasurer
Christina Rivera is a religious educator, administrator, and minister serving Unitarian Universalism as part of the Lead Ministry Team at Church of the Larger Fellowship. She was the first Latina and religious educator elected to the UUA Board of Trustees, serving as Trustee, Financial Secretary, and Secretary of the Association. In 2017 Chris co-created the #UUWhiteSupremacyTeachIn with religious educators Aisha Hauser and Kenny Wiley. In 2019 she received the Mel Hoover Award from DRUUMM and in 2020 the UUA’s Angus MacLean Award for Excellence in Religious Education.
In 2018, Chris founded Called to Justice (CTJ), a consulting group focused on impactful leadership development for UUs committed to justice ministries. Called to Justice’s goal is to develop lasting relationships with organizations and support them as they move deeper into understanding how white supremacy culture impacts their organization.
Chris has the faith of her husband and sons who, along with her ancestors, form the foundation for her call to justice.
Clyde Grubbs, Board Member
The Reverend Doctor Clyde Grubbs has companioned individuals on their spiritual journeys for three decades, He has worked with students, social justice activists, hospital chaplains, and those entering the journey of retirement and reflecting on the meaning of their lives journey.
Clyde has served congregations in Indiana, Quebec, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, and California.
Clyde and his partner the Rev. Dr. Michelle Walsh serve the First Parish in Canton MA in a shared ministry.
Clyde honors his Native American heritage (Texas Cherokee), which informs his spiritual understanding and practice, and his anti-racist and anti-oppressive commitment. He has spoken extensively on the Doctrine of Discovery and participated in leading the Unitarian Universalists denomination in repudiation. He was involved in the New Sanctuary Movement in Southern California and contributed to organizing coalitions in support of indigenous migrant workers in Florida, California, and Arizona,
Presently Clyde works with the United American Indians of New England around efforts to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day and build solitary with indigenous movements to defend Mother Earth.
The Reverend Dr. Rodney Lemery currently serves as the Associate Minister of Justice and Engagement for the Mount Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church of Walnut Creek, CA. He comes to that position from the Worthy Now Prison Network at the Church of the Larger Fellowship as well as a volunteer chaplain at the Solano County Jail.

He lives in Hercules, CA with his husband of 22 years, and their fur-baby Basil. Rodney and his husband have been long-time members (18 years) of the Mount Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek, CA.
Like lawyer and activist Bryan Stevenson, Rodney believes that “Each of us is more than the worst thing we’ve ever done.” Rodney's theological foundation is rooted in process and relational thought and can be summarized it in the following terms: "The great mystery of life...the divine...or what some call G*d, is that aspect of the metaphysical that permeates all of the nooks and crannies of the universe creating a fabric of interconnections among all things. This deep connection calls us all to care, love, teach, and learn from one another. Through this profound relationship between all of creation, we have the capacity to recognize a more whole, just and perfect world."
