1. How has your spiritual direction practice been unfolding since the practicum?

Since I’ve completed the practicum in 2021, my spiritual direction practice has been unfolding in surprising and beautiful ways. I started my own practice and LLC shortly after the practicum and continued to accompany a directee I started meeting with during the practicum. My practice has grown since then and I accompany individuals and small groups, and I’ve led webinars and workshops on spiritual direction. I also work with Spiritual Directors International as the Community Coordinator helping them support groups of spiritual directors/companions.

2. What kind of self-care helps ground your spiritual care work?

I have a community of care which includes a spiritual director, therapist, and clergy group which provides various kinds of care and support. I also practice silence and stillness often which helps to ground my spiritual care work. Reading and listening to podcasts about spiritual direction/companionship and attending events through Spiritual Directors International (SDI) and Spiritual Directors of Color (SDC) Network also help to ground my spiritual care work by reminding me I am not alone in this work.

3. How do you think Still Harbor impacted you?

Still Harbor helped to equip and support me in my calling as a spiritual director/companion. The practicum included the wisdom of BIPOC and Queer people which helped me to lean more fully into my own sense of calling as a spiritual companion. I also participated in Still Harbor’s Group Supervision and Community of Practice both of which provided space for me to reflect on my spirituality while also giving me a model to implement for others. I am deeply appreciative of the impact Still Harbor continues to have on my life and my practice.
